1 - Introduction
In a time where IT-security is becoming increasingly important, the security of your Macbook is one of the things that Cloudcarrier is concerned with.
Most users have administrator privileges on their Macbook when it is not managed by Cloudcarrier. These administrator privileges allow users to install system updates, install app-updates and make changes to the (system) settings of a Macbook. Obviously this is a risk to the safety of your MacBook, and your (company)data. This is not because you cannot be trusted, but because malicious parties can abuse your user account. For example malware, or a malicious person who happens to see your Macbook unlocked, can use your user account to change settings.
With Admin-On-Demand Cloudcarrier prevents your user account from having administrator privileges and therefore secures your Macbook.
Because we understand that you need administrator rights for some actions, and want to offer you complete freedom on your MacBook, you can request temporary administrator rights through Admin-On-Demand. These administrator rights remain active for 5 minutes and are then automatically revoked. This instruction describes how to use admin-on-demand.
Tips!
- Admin-On-Demand only works with an active internet connection.
- If Admin-On-Demand does not work as expected, try restarting your Macbook.
Step 1:
Open the Cloudcarrier Support app (always active) from your menu bar.
Step 2:
Click "Mosyle Self-Service" as shown in the screenshot below.
Step 3:
Choose "Admin-On-Demand" in the sidebar and then click "Request Admin Now".
Step 4:
Enter the reason why you need Admin-On-Demand in the text field. Then click "Continue".
Step 5:
Carefully read the message and then click "Continue".
Step 6:
You have now been granted administrator privileges!
